My encumbrance mechanics
To go with the travel system I need clear rules for encumbrance. Simple is best.
Item sizes:
A sword or a torch is a normal size item. A dagger is a small item, and you can fit 3 to a slot. A padded coat is one item. A lamellar plate stacked ontop is one more item.
- A heavy item takes only one slot, but you can only carry a number of heavy items equal to any boons to strength (or STR mod, in games where that is a thing).
Item slots:
You have 6 slots of gear worn on your body and/or in your hands. You can still move unhindered with this. The 6-slot Your hat or helmet does not count as an inventory slot, but you can't store anything else on your head.
- When your nimbleness is tested, use the worst of VIG save or rolling a d6 trying to score equal or lower than your empty inventory slots.
Utility gear:
A backpack (or 'sack') holds 6 items. If you wear a non-empty backpack you are encumbered.
A horse can carry two sacks, or one sack and a rider (including their worn gear but not with a backpack on). A mule can also carry two sacks but won't take a rider.
